By Palmesh Cuttaree, a Mauritian creative artist who is also the Conceptor and Creative Director for the Worldwide Masks Collection Museum (member of the International Council of Museums - UNESCO). The artist has designed and crafted unique masks by hand inspired by the husk of the Spathodea Campanulata, commonly known as the Gabon Tulip Tree. These masks bear a meaning and a mystique that is distinctively that of the Mauritian diaspora, evocative as they are of the tradition and intangible cultural heritage of Mauritius.

Mauritius is welcoming skippers, crews and yachts from 14 different nations participating in the World ARC sailing rally. 20 yachts and crews are arriving in Mauritius, at the Le Caudan Waterfront Marina, Port Louis, between 8th and 14th October 2010, having sailed 2,300 nautical miles from the Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands (located in the Indian Ocean, approximately midway between Australia and Sri Lanka). The first yachts arrived at Le Caudan Waterfront Marina on Saturday 9th October 2010. It’s the fourth time that La Marina of Le Caudan Waterfront is a stopover of this international rally.
