About fifty new shops, 15 commercial kiosks, one Resto-café-wine bar, a Sushi-sandwich-wine bar and 445 additional parking are the key elements of Dias Pier, the new unit at Le Caudan Waterfront. It was named after the famous Portuguese explorer, Bartholomeo Dias.
Since its opening, the commercial centre thus continuously answers to the growing demand of the public for more shopping opportunities. The Dias Pier was built in place of the former parking number 3, at the southern entrance of the capital city on the waterfront. Construction of this building necessitated high technical expertise and building methods. Not less that 400 concrete piles were pushed 30 meters deep, to support the 156 columns of the commercial centre.
The shopping mall extends on the ground floor and the mezzanine and the new eight-level building includes four parking levels as well as office-dedicated floors. The project was designed by architect Maurice Giraud, featuring a decor with the African touch. The first two commercial levels started to operate in December 2007 and are already very popular amongst shoppers. |
